MASS TELEPHONE NOTIFICATION SYSTEM SELF-REGISTRATION PROGRAM PRIVACY STATEMENT
Dakota 911 and public safety agencies within Dakota County have acquired a Mass Telephone Notification System (MTNS) to provide automated electronic or telephone notifications to residents and businesses in Dakota County of situations that pose a threat to the health or safety of people living or working in Dakota County. Residents and people working at businesses in Dakota County can use Dakota 911 web site to self-register their cellular telephone numbers to add those numbers to the MTNS telephone number database. Dakota 911 provides the self-registration of cellular phone numbers as an optional service to Dakota County residents and businesses. You are not required to self-register your cellular phone number.
- What is the purpose and intended use of the requested data? Dakota 911 requests that you provide the following information so your cellular phone number can be added to the MTNS telephone database so you may receive automated notifications when appropriate: your full name, your current address including house number, street and city, and your phone number including area code.
- May I refuse to give Dakota 911 the data they are requesting? Yes, you may refuse to supply the data since the self-registration of telephone numbers is voluntary. However, if you do not self-register and do not provide this information, you will not receive automated electronic or telephone notifications from the MTNS through your cellular phone.
- What other persons or entities are authorized to receive this data? The information you provide to Dakota 911 will be added to the MTNS telephone database which may be used by staff of Dakota County public safety agencies and Dakota 911 to provide important notifications. This information will not be provided to other agencies persons.
- May I remove my cellular phone number from the telephone database? Yes, you may request that any telephone numbers you have self-registered be removed from the notification system by calling Dakota 911 at (651) 322- 8660.
I understand that the information that I provide about me will be entered into the Dakota 911 Mass Telephone Notification System (MTNS). I also understand that the information I provide to Dakota 911 will only be shared with the persons or entities authorized in this Privacy Statement or as otherwise authorized by me or by law to receive this information.
I understand that I have been informed of my rights as a subject of private data. I also understand that I can access this Privacy Statement on the Dakota 911 web site and can print a copy of this Privacy Statement. By completing the self-registration process, I consent to the use of my personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Statement.
Community Notification
Dakota 911 uses a County-wide community notification system designed to quickly alert targeted areas of the public of emergencies that may affect their health or welfare. This system is capable of sending up to 60,000 calls per hour. In addition to hard-wire home phones that are automatically registered, Residents and Businesses in Dakota County can use the Dakota 911 website to self-register their cellular and other contact telephone numbers, along with email addresses, they would like alerted in the event of an emergency in the area of their Dakota County residence or business.
